I, as a gamer, prefer cooperative gameplay over competitive gameplay. The latter only puts me under the pressure of having to constantly grow on my own against others who may outperform me anyways.

I enjoy teamwork and it feels good to be part of a team that values you for your qualities. Winning on your own feels great, but winning in a team feels so much better. It’s a very addicting euphoria.

And even in a game, where there are no real stakes, it feels really good when you’re caught up on the ground and someone is offering you a hand or protects you.

I’ve also had my own “clan” in a competitive war game, where most random players don’t have any real perception of tactics and teamwork. You’d see lone wolves run all over the place, trying to score points.

But we have built ourselves up as a team, each one committed to their own role. As a result, our performance grew exponentially, we covered each other and dominated the leaderboard most of the time. Not because any one of us was really good, but because our team was.

You just could not bring any one of us down because there was someone else watching their backs.

It fuels you to keep going because someone else is relying on you. I can always give up on myself. But I just couldn’t give up on others.
