The question is, if humanity really is able to create sustainable fusion energy within the next 30 to 50 years, will this source of unlimited energy cause every human on earth to have access to cheap electricity, or, in line with our nature, will it only cause an imbalance of power and start a global war, if we aren't already in the middle of one until then?
If this speech of Chaplin would not only be regarded as a piece of art or nice words from a famous comedian, but an actual policy to strive for, we could achieve more.
But I bet there were thousands of people who said the exact same over the past 80 years. Look where it got us. Technology makes leaps and our brain stopped evolving. It is indeed ironic.
